Safety first
Safety is the most important topic for users of the Better Life Index in Japan.
The interactive map above shows user information and well-being preferences by country or territory, each represented by a coloured dot on the map. The colour indicates the highest-rated topic in that country and the size of the dot indicates the relative number of responses. All countries and territories have been displayed, irrespective of the number of user responses. When a country is selected, a popup will appear to show how users ranked the well-being topics from lowest to highest. The number of responses is provided as well as a breakdown of users by gender and age. It is also possible to compare the average topic ranking in the selected country with that of users in another country. Happy exploring!
Visitors have been encouraged to create and share their own Better Life Index since the launch of the Index in 2011. To date, the OECD has received more than 60 000 of these indexes from some 180 countries and territories. Anyone can create their own index, so the results may not represent statistically relevant samples. The responses, updated daily, have been grouped by country, age and gender, and displayed on the interactive map above. For a complete list of user responses “Download user data”
